HMK SETS A NEW STANDARD!

HMK is taking the next step to help the environment and have now started to fuel all its buses with a new environmental friendly fuel.

"HMK Class, which is our slogan, also means that we should be "Best in Class" in every aspect of our business, which also applies to the environmental side effects of running a coach company. We are therefore willing to accept a somewhat higher cost for the benefit of the environment from this new fuel (GTL). This will however, not be charged to our customers”, says Managing Director, Mr. Ola Halvorsen at HMK. "We are betting big and have installed separate tanks for the filling of GTL fuel. Also our subsidiary, Bislet limousine, will use the new fuel ".

The transition to the synthetic fuel is a natural step at HMK as it is consistent with the company`s environmental strategy. The bus fleet consists only of vehicles that meet Euro 4, Euro 5 and Euro 5 EEV requirements. With the current replacement rate of 40 months, HMK will always offer the latest and most environmental friendly engine and vehicle technology. Most of HMK's buses have 3 point safety belts, advanced safety systems and are the safest buses on the market.

By changing to a new type of fuel for all its coaches HMK achieve a reduction of harmful emissions by 50 and 90%. The new fuel, which is based on natural gas, also provides reduced consumption.

The fuel, called EcoPar GTL (Gas-To-Liquid), is based on pure natural gas. Through an effective process the gas is converted into liquid and is thus a synthetic fuel that can be distributed efficiently and used in all diesel engines. GTL fuel is classified by the current European standard for diesel, EN 590 and meets Euro V requirements. The new fuel is also 100% biodegradable, odorless and non toxic.

Following developments

"In our efforts to find new solutions, we have considered various types of alternative fuels," says Ola Halvorsen. "We consider EcoPar GTL to be the best alternative fuel on the market today. Compared to for example biodiesel, it has better features and it is important to us that it can be used on all diesel engines without restrictions or changes in engines and service intervals. It is also important that this new fuel can be used without problems on the coldest winter days. " HMK Coaches will follow the development further and have ambition to continue to be the Best in Class.
